OHIO STATE 49 – RUTGERS 10

Despite giving the Ohio State Buckeyes an early scare, it was not nearly enough as the Scarlet Knights couldn’t slow down Buckeyes tailback Miyan Williams who churned out 189 yards and five touchdowns en route to a 49-10 Ohio State victory.

Rutgers jumped out to a fast start when RU jumped on a punt return fumble by Ohio State star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka at the Buckeye’s own 18-yard line.

Three plays later Rutgers was in the end zone when Evan Simon hit Sean Ryan for a touchdown to put Rutgers up 7-0.

Unfortunately for RU the good feeling didn’t last very long. Ohio State answered quickly on five plays with Miyan Williams gashing Rutgers for 32 yards on first and ten from the Rutgers 34. Two plays later, Williams was in from two-yards out for the game tying touchdown.

The score was the start of a 28-point run by Ohio State with Williams scoring three touchdowns before halftime as Ohio State built a 28-7 lead.

The only non-Williams touchdown in the first half came on a 36-yard strike from C.J. Stroud to Julian Flemmings

After a Jude McAtamney field goal cut the Buckeyes lead to 28-10 to open the third quarter, Williams put the game on ice when he sprinted 70-yards for a touchdown to put the Buckeyes up 35-10.

Ohio State out-gained Rutgers 413 yards to 187. Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud was kept in check for the most part. He completed 13 of 22 passes for 154 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

For Rutgers, quarterback Evan Simon was 10-of-19 for 74 yards with a touchdown. Rutgers is now 0-9 all time vs. Ohio State. In all nine games Ohio State has scored no less then 49 points against Rutgers.

Rutgers (3-2, 0-2 vs. Big Ten) will host Nebraska on Friday night, October 7 from SHI Stadium in what is expected to be a Black Out at the Stadium. Kick-off is at 7 p.m., with broadcast coverage beginning with the Britcher Leone and Sergio Tailgate show on Fox Sports New Jersey 93.5 FM, 1450 AM at 4:30 p.m. on Friday evening.

  • Miyan Williams Had a Huge Day for Ohio State

Tip your cap to Miyan Williams. On a day where Rutgers had to focus on the prowess of quarterback C.J. Stroud, Williams had an incredible day, rushing for 189 yards and five touchdowns. The five touchdowns tied an Ohio State program record held by ex-Jet Keith Byars and Pete Johnson.
