Despite taking a beating from the Buffalo Bills, the New York Jets plan to start quarterback Mike White against the Detroit Lions this coming Sunday.

White was knocked out twice in Sunday’s 20-12 loss to the Buffalo Bills, with grave concern for his ribs after the second hit by Ed Oliver. After the game White was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons and was cleared to return to New Jersey with the team. On Monday he was feeling good.

“He’s tough as nails, man,” Head Coach Robert Saleh said. “He stood in there, took his shots and delivered strikes. he moved the ball real well in their own stadium. I know he passed all that stuff. He feels good. We will let this play out over today, tomorrow and whatnot. We are preparing to have him on Sunday.”

“I feel good, played with my kids this morning,” White told reporters Monday. “It’s football.”

The Jets host the Detroit Lions on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Jets (7-6) find themselves on the outside looking in, needing to win at least three of their final four while getting help with Miami, New England and the LA Chargers in front of them in the standings.

Saleh didn’t back off his comments that the Jets would make a return trip to Buffalo this season, reiterating he believes his Jets are a playoff team.
