FLYERS 2 – DEVILS 1

The New Jersey Devils are still looking to get back on track following a disappointing 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at The Rock on Thursday night. It’s Jersey’s fourth consecutive defeat.

Despite their best efforts, the Devils couldn’t figure out Flyers goaltender Carter Hart, who recorded 48 saves, matching a career high.

The Devils only score of the game came on a power play by Jack Hughes. Aside from that the Devils were completely flummoxed offensively. Hughes even attempted eight shots on the night. The Devils have scored a total of nine goals in their last four games, which doesn’t sound terrible, but only two goals in the last two contests.

Scott Laughton and Travis Konecny scored the two goals for Philadelphia.

MEANWHILE, The Rangers took care of the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1 at the Garden on Thursday for their fifth consecutive victory.

Jimmy Vessey was the hero of the night scoring a pair of goals in the second and third periods, respectively, to put the Rangers up 3-1.

The former New Jersey Devil is happy to be back on the other side of the Hudson.

“I have come full circle and the end of the day, this is where I have wanted to play all along,” Vesey said about returning to the Rangers.

It was also a big night in net for Igor Shesterkin who improved to 5-0-1 in the last six games, recording 22 saves for the Broadway Blue Shirts.
