Somerset Patriots Celebrating America 250 As ‘Semiquincentennials’ For 4 Games in 2026
As the New York Yankees’ Double-A affiliate, the Patriots will adopt this temporary identity for four games – July 3, 4, 5, and August 15.

The Somerset Patriots will change their name to the Somerset Semiquincentennials in 2026 to mark America's 250th birthday. As the New York Yankees' Double-A affiliate, the Patriots will adopt this temporary identity for four games during the season.
Games are set for July 3, 4, 5, and August 15. Fireworks will light up the sky after the events on July 3, 4, and August 15. This change pays tribute to Central New Jersey's Revolutionary War heritage and allows fans to join the big anniversary celebration.
Semiquincentennials merchandise will go on pre-order on January 5, 2026. Designed by Fooser Sports Design, logos and uniforms use Old Glory Red, Basic White, and Old Glory Blue, reflecting the American flag.
The main logo features a bald eagle wearing a top hat, with 19 stars representing the 19 letters in "Semiquincentennials" and three stars for New Jersey's position as the third state. Meanwhile, the cap logo displays the bald eagle’s head on a red, white, and blue three-colored cap.
White jerseys with red and blue stripes will have "Semiquincentennials" across the chest. Gold signatures from the Declaration of Independence will decorate the blue sleeves. The left sleeve displays a quill pen logo with “United States of America” and “250 Years | 1776 – 2026.” On the right, the Patriots' secondary logo is featured.
Quill designs on team gear will honor New Jersey's Declaration of Independence signers: Abraham Clark, John Hart, Francis Hopkinson, Richard Stockton, and John Witherspoon.
Patriots President and General Manager, Patrick McVerry, expressed to MiLB.com, “We’ve always taken great pride in being the Somerset Patriots in honor of the Revolutionary War history of the Central New Jersey area we call home. The celebration of America’s 250th birthday makes perfect sense for us to rebrand.”
Established in 1998, the team won six championships in the Atlantic League before affiliating with the Yankees. They play at TD Bank Ballpark, which opened in 1999, and have hosted countless community events and baseball games there.
The Patriots took over as the Yankees' Double-A team instead of the Trenton Thunder in 2021. Their connection to the Revolutionary War era remains strong, with sites like the Middlebrook encampment in Bridgewater marking important historical events. Many players have returned to MLB teams, and 50 players have made their MLB debuts since the affiliation change.
The Patriots won the 2022 Eastern League Championship in their second season linked with the Yankees, showing fast progress. The club received Baseball America’s 2024 Freitas Award for outstanding operations and community connections.
The team's broadcasts and social media initiatives have reached impressive engagement, achieving over 49 million impressions and 1.6 million streaming minutes. The rebranding highlights their tradition of blending baseball and history, solidifying their community presence in New Jersey.
