Robert Saleh Out as Jets Head Coach: What’s Next?
Tuesday morning after the team arrived back in New York from their trip to London where they fell to the Minnesota Vikings 23-17 the New York Jets decided to fire now-former head coach Robert Saleh.
Saleh was 20-36 as the Jets head coach and after a poor 2-3 start to the season the Jets needed to make some sort of change before it got any later and the season was un-salvageable. With trade rumors swirling around about Davante Adams, this was not a move that was expected by Jets fans, but they are certainly not surprised.
The Jets’ issues run a lot deeper than just former head coach Robert Saleh.
The Jets have struggled to get any kind of ground attack going while having arguably a top three running back in football, Breece Hall.
With offensive line struggles and the team’s major issue, that they are relying on a 40-year-old quarterback coming off of a torn Achilles to be the best thrower we have ever seen when he is just not that anymore, the team is certainly in a position where they have to reevaluate what they want the present as well as the future to look like.
Where do the Jets turn from here? Jeff Ulbrich will take over as the interim head coach for the Jets as they try to right the ship. Should they trade for Davante Adams? Sure, it wouldn’t hurt the team as he is one of the NFL’s top receivers, but it is not certain he would solve the deeper issues going on in the Jets organization.
