Daniel Jones and Giants Get Rolled by Seahawks
It’s not so much fun to be the Giants right now. Heck, it’s certainly wasn’t fun being Daniel Jones on Monday night, as the $160 million man was under siege by both the Seattle pass rush and the fanbase in Monday night’s 24-3 thrashing at the hands of the Seahawks.
The Giants quarterback was sacked ten times. Count ’em! Ten times on Monday night. To add insult to injury, Jones was picked off twice, including one that was taken back to the house for a 97-yard return by rookie corner Devon Witherspoon.
Jones who finished the night 27-of-34 for 203 yards appeared as both he and Head Coach Brian Daboll were clearly frustrated.
The absence of left tackle Andrew Thomas, and the absence of running back Saquon Barkley are proving costly. The Giants signed Thomas to a major extension in the off-season, but he has been bothered by a hamstring injury.
On the flip side, Barkley is out nursing the ankle injury that has kept him sidelined the past two games.
Best Night in Blue:
Perhaps the only Giant to have a good night was linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux, who recorded two sacks on the night. Thibodeaux has come under fire from fans in recent weeks for low production through the seasons first three games.
Ex-Jets Return:
Not only did Seattle win the game, it was a homecoming of sorts for ex-Jets Geno Smith and Jamal Adams.
Adams didn’t play long in his return to the lineup. While trying to tackle Daniel Jones on a scramble, Jones’s knee slammed up against Adams’s head. He left the game under concussion protocol and did not return.
As for Geno Smith, the ex-Jets and Giants quarterback, turned in a solid outing, despite having to leave the game one point due to a knee injury. Smith finished 13-of-20 for 110 yards and a touchdown.
What’s next:
The 1-3 Giant are starring at an ugly scenario. They visit the two hottest teams in the AFC right now: the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills, the next two weeks. In a blink of an eye the Giants could be 1-5 if they are not careful.
