Fantastic Fitts Ties Career Highs in Patriots Victory
Richard Fitts was fantastic once again.
The Yankees number eight prospect fanned 10 batters over eight brilliant innings and the Bronx Bomber Double-A affiliate, Somerset Patriots defeated the Colorado Rockies Double-A affiliate, Hartford Yard Goats 5-2 on Saturday night.
Fitts’ efforts matched career highs for inning’s pitched and strikeouts. He last tossed eight innings last August for High-A Hudson Valley.
The 10 strikeouts matched a career high Fits set earlier this year on April 12 against Binghamton.
According to the Somerset Patriots press release: “Fitts becomes the third Patriots starter this week to set or match his career-high number of strikeouts (Clayton Beeter, 11 and Blane Abeyta, 11). All five Patriots starters set or matched season-highs in strikeouts.”

Meanwhile T.J. Rumfield crushed his third home run of the week. to help propel the Patriots offense. Anthony Siegler also crushed his first home run in Double-A in the fourth inning.

The victory secures a winning series for the Patriots. The Patriots and Yard Goats wrap up the week long series on Sunday.
