Aaron Judge on IL as Yankees Fall to .500
There are not too many happy faces in The Bronx lately as the New York Yankees are sitting in last place in the American League East at 15-15, 8.5 games behind the surging Tampa Bay Rays who are currently 23-9 on the season.
The latest bad news for the Yankees is Aaron Judge landing on the 10-day injury list, with a right hip strain. The injury was confirmed on Monday, and his stint on the IL is retroactive to last Friday, meaning he could come off the list by May 8, next Monday.
Still the loss of Judge in the lineup is huge from both a leadership and power standpoint. The Yankees just can’t seem to keep anyone healthy right now. Judge is one of 13 players on the injury list, a list that is a whose-who of top talent including Giancarlo Stanton, Harrison Bader, Luis Severino, Josh Donaldson, and Tommy Kahnle to name a few.

Moreover the Yankees are struggling in the win-loss column. The Yankees have lost four in a row, and blew a 2-0 lead to the Cleveland Guardians in the ninth inning on Monday. While the Yankees are more than capable of mounting a huge comeback in the AL East standings, it won’t be easy, since everyone in the division is very good, especially youthful teams in Baltimore, Tampa Bay and Toronto.
