Rutgers women's basketball star Kaylene Smikle has been named to the All-Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Third Team after a stellar and record breaking freshman year.

According to Rutgers Athletics, "Smikle is the fourth player in program history to earn All-MET Third Team honors and the second consecutive as Osh Brown earned the honor in 2022."

Smikle's honors include: 2022-23 All-Big Ten Second Team as well as All-Freshman Team,  a three-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the most in program history.  In addition, she led Rutgers and freshman in the Big Ten with 17.9 points per game in addition to averaging 19.5 points in conference play.  She also registered an average of 20+ points in 15 games this past season. 12 of those games were in conference.

Michael Cohen is the News and Sports Director at Fox Sports Radio New Jersey and Magic 98.3 FM, as well as a radio production assistant with Fox and Magic in New Jersey. He started his career in Somerset in 2018 initially as a news fill-in at WCTC 1450 AM, and soon moved up to higher responsibilities in the ensuing years, assuming News & Sports Director title in 2021Prior to his time with Fox Sports New Jersey, Michael was play-by-play voice for New Jersey Jackals baseball, and as well as play-by-play and color for the College of Staten Island basketball (men and women), softball and baseball. Michael began his career as a news and sportswriter with the Jersey Journal of Hudson County.
