Opinion: The ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’ Movie Doesn’t Look That Bad
Disney has been shelling out reboots and live-action remakes for a while now. Some of them have been well received like their Beauty and The Beast (2017) Remake.
Others have been met with harsh criticism like Aladdin (2019) which some felt was a cash grab off of an already popular and well-known story. Now Disney has set their sights on neverland, though will this be the treasure they were looking for?
From EW it was announced that the next live-action remake from Disney will be the story of Peter Pan. With the current controversy surrounding their upcoming ‘The Little Mermaids’ remake, this was a bold move. Especially considering that we don’t know how good or how bad The Little Mermaid will be until late may this year.

What is an even bolder move is that this remake will be released before The Little Mermaid and will be a Disney+ exclusive. I’m not sure if that’s the best move as Disney doesn’t have the best track record considering their 2022 Pinocchio didn’t do so well with audiences despite having a strong cast and good music.
Speaking of casting I really do like some of the choices made for this film Jude Law, as Captain Hook from what I see in the trailer is going to do really well for the character.
Yara Shahidi, for Tinker Bell, looks amazing. The effects used don’t look awful either, but I’m curious how she will play the character. And As for Peter Pan and Wendy, they’ll be played by Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson. Both have had very few roles, though on screen they fit the characters well.

The only thing that really concerns me is the humor, as we’ve seen before. It doesn’t matter how good of a cast you have if the story and script are fundamentally flawed. We want things to feel natural and not like a joke is being forced onto us.
We’ve seen humor like that try and subsequently, fail before and we see the attempt here with Wendy pointing out that this rendition of the “Lost Boys” isn’t all boys. It did make me chuckle watching it, but we’ll have to wait till April 28th to see the whole film. Though from what I’ve seen so far it doesn’t look bad.
