As was reported Tuesday, former Rutgers defensive lineman Ryan Keeler died Monday in Las Vegas. He was 20. The cause of death was not revealed.

Keeler was a three-star recruit out of Chicago, Illinois, and was a member of the Scarlet Knights 2021 recruiting class. After redshirting in 2021, he entered the transfer portal and went to UNLV.

Rutgers head Coach Greg Schiano issued a statement that was posted to Twitter saying the program is “devastated to hear of Ryan’s passing. From getting to know him as a recruit, to actually getting to coach him, what stood out most was his passion. His passion for his teammates and his passion for the game of football. We send our love and prayers to Ryan’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
