CAMPBELL 11 – RUTGERS 5
It was an inauspicious start to the season for Rutgers baseball, dropping an 11-5 decision to Campbell on opening day for College Baseball.
The Scarlet Knights fell behind 8-0 in the early innings before trying to stage a late inning comeback only to fall short.

The Camels put the Scarlet Knights in an early 2-0 hole when Tyler Halstead lined a two-run triple to left-center in the bottom of the first.
After a bases loaded walk, hit by pitch and wild pitch brought home three Campbell runs over the next two innings, The Camels blew it open in the fourth. Lawson Harrill cracked a two-run homer to left-center to make it 7-0. Trenton Harris later tripled and scored on a throwing error to make it 8-0 Campbell.
The Three H’s, Harris, Harrill and Halstead each had three hits a piece.
Rutgers tried to rally late. Tony Santa Maria had a two-run single in the fifth. Chris Brito doubled in a pair in the seventh.
Trevor Cohen had a huge night, batting 4-for-4 with a RBI for Rutgers.
