Media streaming site Netflix is known for having some of the best movies, shows and originals in the entertainment world. Though one part that they’ve struggled in the past with is their live action adaptations of hit anime series. According to theverge this will be the year that the One Piece becomes real! The best part is you won’t have to sail the seas to find it.

Now Netflix has produced some highly successful and highly respected originals like Seven Deadly Sins and their adaptation of Castlevania. Though when it comes to turning live animated shows into live action movies, the ball falls short. The most notable example, would be their 2017 adaption of Death Note. Fans were excited as this was a title that got many people into watching anime. Though the reviews don’t meet expectations as it only received a 4.6 on IMDb and the acting is certainly off when comparing the two. Though Netflix will be making this series into a live action show. Something they did with Cowboy Bebop which was cancelled after one season.

One Piece is one of the longest anime shows still running and still making new episodes even after twenty-three years. Now it will be taking a new form after Netflix announced back in 2021 that it would be turning the 1000+ episode anime into a live action show. Though like most things information fell silent due to the pandemic among other things. We are now getting more info that the long awaited show will be coming this year!
I am genuinely excited as One Piece is considered not only one of the big three of anime, but it’s also got in my opinion some of the best character development and plot lines in all of entertainment. With Netflix’s history they will have to earn the respect of dedicated fans if they want the series to be a success.
