Smikle Leads Rutgers in Scoring, But RU Falls to Michigan State
MICHIGAN STATE 85 – RUTGERS 63
For the 13th time this season, Kaylene Smikle led the Scarlet Knights in scoring, netting 27 points in a critical road game against Big Ten rival Michigan State. Unfortunately for Rutgers Smikle’s efforts weren’t enough in a 85-63 loss.
Michigan State jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back as they took a 27-10 lead into halftime.
Still there were some noteworthy moments, namely Kai carter joining the 1,000 point club for Rutgers after collecting 11 points, her fifth double-digit output of the season. Carter earned the mark when she was fouled and hit both free throws with 6:16 to go in the game and Rutgers down 74-56.
