Rutgers football introduced its new offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca to the media on Monday afternoon.

Rutgers ranked 128th out of 131 FBS schools in scoring during the 2022 season. Rutgers was 130th in total offense (255 yards), 123rd in passing yards per game (144.5), 121st in interception rate (4.2% of passes thrown), – 111th in rushing yards per game (110.5), 129th in third-down conversion rate (26%) and 106th in red zone scoring rate (77.3%) according to NJ.com.

NJ.com also reports that at $1.4 million annually, Ciarrocca becomes the highest paid assistant coach in program history. Rutgers is also footing the bill on Sean Gleeson’s final year of his deal at $1.05 million. Gleeson was let go midway through the 2022 season.

Ciarrocca is very familiar with Rutgers having served under Coach Greg Schiano from 2009 to 2010.  Moreover, at two stints at Minnesota, Ciarrocca worked under Golden Gopher’s Head Coach P.J. Fleck, who was also a former Rutgers assistant coach on Schiano’s staff in 2010 and 2011.
