Rutgers Can’t Stop Iowa’s Surge
IOWA 76 – RUTGERS 65
A rough day on the boards for Rutgers as the Scarlet Knights shot only 38 percent from the floor led to a disappointing 76-65 loss to Iowa at Jersey Mike’s Arena on Sunday afternoon. The loss was only the second time this season that Rutgers has lost at home.
Rutgers fell behind early, trailing by as many as 13 points, 30-17, in the first half. Rutgers would widdle the gap down to four-points, 34-30 thanks to some great Rutgers defense as they kept the Hawkeyes scoreless for over three minutes.
Unfortunately for RU, Iowa went on an 8-0 run to close out the first half to take a 42-30 lead into the locker room.
Cam Spencer led RU with 13 points, while Caleb McConnell had 12. RU is back in action Wednesday night at Northwestern.
