Rutgers is heading to MSG this February. The Big Ten announced that the Scarlet Knight’s will face-off with Big Ten rival Michigan State in the Big Ten Super Saturday game at Madison Square Garden on Saturday February 4 at 12 noon. Rutgers will serve as the home team.
This is the third time that Rutgers has played in the game. Men’s basketball faced Wisconsin on January 28, 2017 — a game Rutgers lost 61-54. RU returned to the World’s Most Famous Arena three years later, falling to Michigan 69-63 to Michigan. This is the first Big Ten Super Saturday game since 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Michigan State will makes its first appearance in the Big Ten Super Saturday game, but it’s very familiar with the Garden having made numerous appearances in NCAA Tournament, Conference tournaments, and other special tournaments through the years. Michigan State has made two appearances in Manhattan since the 2018 conference tournament, facing No. 3 Kansas last season and No. 2 Kentucky in 2019, both in the State Farm Champions Classic.
