Women’s Hoops Storms Past NJIT 87-71
Led by 18 points by Kassondra Brown, the Rutgers Women’s Basketball team stormed past NJIT 87-71 at Jersey Mike’s Arena to improve to 2-1 on the young season.
Five different players scored double-digits with Kaylene Smikle, Awa Sidibe and Erica Lafayette posting 13 points a piece, and Chyna Cornwell dropping 12 points in the victory.

According to Rutgers Athletics, “The Scarlet Knights dominated the glass with a 50-30 advantage in rebounding and turned the possession battle into a season-high point output on 53 percent shooting from the field. Meanwhile, NJIT was held to 34 percent from the floor.”
Sue Wicks, a basketball Hall of Famer, who played for Rutgers from 1985-88 was recognized by Rutgers during Sunday’s game.
