Rutgers Will Face Iowa In Front of Sell Out Crowd
A sell out crowd is expected on Saturday night when the Rutgers Scarlet Knights host the Iowa Hawkeyes in prime time at 7 p.m. The game will air on radio via Fox Sports New Jersey 93.5 FM 1450 AM, and on FS1 on television.
The Scarlet Knights enter the game at 3-0 and are looking to start 4-0 for the first time since the 2012 season. Rutgers is also trying to snap a 19-game home losing streak to Big Ten opponents when Iowa comes rolling in. No pressure.
Tickets to the general public are now SOLD OUT ‼️

This will mark the third time that Rutgers and Iowa have ever faced one another. They last met in 2019, a 30-0 Iowa victory. In 2016, Iowa came to Piscattaway and squeaked out a 38-35 victory.
As they did the last three weeks, Rutgers will rely on its defense and running game to control the tempo of the game against an Iowa team that has been one of the best defensive units in college football. Iowa has only given up 13 points all season.
Last week Rutgers needed a Shaquan Loyal pick-six and terrific running by slash player Johnny Langan to outlast Temple 16-14. Expect Rutgers to rely heavily on Langan, as well as running backs Al Shadee Salaam and Kyle Monangai throughout the game on Saturday.
At quarterback Gavin Wissmat is a game time decision according to Head Coach Greg Schiano, after he suffered a hand injury last week. Veteran Noah Verdal still has yet to participate in a game. So it’s very likely Rutgers fans will see a lot of sophomore Evan Simon under center. Simon has completed 67.5 percent of his passes for 266 yards.
On the flip side, Rutgers could have great success against Iowa and their quarterback Spencer Petras, who has struggled this year, completing 48 percent of his passes with two interceptions and only one touchdown.
In short, expect a defensive slugfest on Saturday.
