The Somerset Patriots (79-48) won their third straight game vs. the Hartford Yard Goats (72-56) on Thursday night, highlighted by Trey Sweeney's first Double-A home run.

The Yankees' No. 6 prospect, Sweeney ended the day 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and three runs batted in, all on his fourth inning home run.

Sweeney's 15th total homer of the year gave Somerset its second of three leads in the game, 5-2 over the Yard Goats.

The Patriots took their first lead on an RBI-single from Austin Wells that gave Somerset a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Wells stole two bases in the game, his third career multi-stolen base game.

After Hartford swiped the lead back in the next half-inning going up 2-1, Mickey Gasper tacked on an RBI-double that tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning. Sweeney's homer moments later put the Patriots up by three.

Patriots starter Barrett Loseke made his second career start and allowed three earned runs in a season-high 3.2 innings pitched.

Shawn Semple pitched the next 3.1 innings, allowing two earned runs. Hartford's two runs off of Semple tied the game at 5-5 entering the sixth inning.

The game stayed tied until the top of the ninth when Andres Chaparro broke through with the game-winning hit for the Patriots.

Chaparro's two-run single marked his fourth straight two-hit game and gave the Patriots their third and final lead of the game, 7-5.

Matt Minnick earned the win with two scoreless innings, improving to 5-3 on the year.

The Patriots' third straight victory locks up a season series victory over Hartford, as it was their 13th win out of 24 total games vs. the Yard Goats. Somerset is now a season-best 31 games over .500 at 79-48 on the season.
