Disney is once again recreating a beloved childhood story as the trailer for their latest live-action film adaptation of the timeless classic Pinocchio. I have to admit it looks pretty magical and might be a very decent film if Disney pulls it off correctly.
Over the last few years, Disney has been hashing out live-action remakes of old classic fairytales and previously animated movies, with the most recent Cruella (2021) bringing in $200 million from the box office. Now it is the 8th wonder of the world's time to shine and move from animation to real life as the second trailer for the upcoming film Pinocchio was released earlier this week. We have a lot to look forward to as Tom Hanks takes up the role of Pinocchio's father and creator Geppetto, while the voice of the puppet comes to life and will be played by child actor Benjamin Ainsworth. At the same time, other well-known characters such as Jiminy Cricket and The Blue Fairy will be played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Cynthia Erivo, respectively.
Though most of the previous remakes have been major wins for Disney in terms of cost, there have been a few that haven’t performed as well or at all, namely the 2020 Mulan remake. However, other films like Aladdin (2019) and The Lion King (2019) both brought in billions of dollars despite both films averaging about a 6.9 on IMDB. So while those films did amazing at the box office, some couldn't help but nitpick at either the animation or the cast choices will Aladdin having Will Smith play the all-powerful Gennie in the lamp, a choice which some made memes about. Where I think Pinocchio will succeed on top of having crisp clean CGI, it also has a strong list of actors to fit the part. The only downside I think is that like Mulan, Pinocchio will skip a theatrical release in favor of a streaming release. But we shall see if this choice bites Disney in the butt or not.
Overall, I’m excited to see what the remaining of 2022 has in store as other live-action remakes are in the world for other movies such as Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, and more. Pinocchio(2022) will premiere next month September 8th on Disney+ exclusively.
New Jersey’s Most Popular Rom-Com Actors Revealed
Take a minute and think about your absolute favorite romantic comedy. If you live in New Jersey, then there's a good chance it starred either Jennifer Lopez or the late Heath Ledger.
Shane Co. recently released a report after turning to Google Trends to determine which actors are "stealing the most hearts" across the Garden State. The company pulled data from the past five years to compare the search volume for each actor across the United States.
It turns out JLo is the most popular actress while Ledger is the most popular actor in New Jersey. Plus, Lopez was also revealed as the most popular in the state overall.
Lopez and Ledger have countless titles to their names which have brought in billions of dollars to the box office over the years. Romantic Comedies such as Monster-In-Law, The Wedding Planner, and 10 Things I Hate About You are just a few that you'll always go back and watch again.
Neither actor is from nor lives here in New Jersey, however, it's totally understandable as to why their names top the list thanks to their swoon-worthy features.
