JETS 24 - FALCONS 16

Here's the thing about preseason games: the results rarely (if ever) dictate what's to come once the regular season begins. The best example of this took place last night at MetLife Stadium as the Jets came back from a 16-0 hole to stun the Falcons 24-16 in a battle of backups.

The Jets benched their starters for the game, including presumed starting quarterback Joe Flacco, who is slated to open the season with Zach Wilson on the mend. As a result, it was the Mike White and Chris Steveler show under center for Gang Green.  Elijah Moore, Braxton Berrios, Michael Carter, and Breece Hall also sat the game out for the Jets.

White was ok statistically but failed to get the Jets moving offensively, managing only a late first-half field goal to send the game into the locker rooms with Atlanta up 16-3.

Streveler shined. The third-stringer completed eight of 11 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. Streveler's 34-yard touchdown pass to Lawrence Cager brought the Jets to within six, 16-10 with 7:26 to go in the third quarter.

Finally, La'Michal Perine put the Jets up for good with a seven-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

The Jets (2-0) will "host" the Giants (2-0) in the preseason finale on Sunday. According to reports, the Jets are expected to play their starters in that game.
