Kayvon Thibodeaux Not So “Good,” Out 3 to 4 Weeks with Knee Injury
After early reports indicated that rookie defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux claimed he was “good” after suffering a knee injury in the Giants’ 25-22 preseason victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, it turns out he will actually miss up to a month with a sprained MCL.
The good news for the Giants and Thibodeaux is that the ligaments, his ACL, and Meniscus are all intact, and there is some optimism that Thibodeaux could be ready to go for the Giants season opener on September 11 at Tennessee.
Initial tests revealed that Giants’ DE Kayvon Thibodeaux suffered a sprained MCL that is expected to sideline him 3-4 weeks, per source. His ACL and meniscus were intact.

Giants are still hopeful that he will be ready for the regular-season opener vs. the Titans, per source.
“Fingers crossed,” coach Brian Daboll said. “Hopefully his rehab goes well and he can get out there as soon as he can.”
Thibodeaux suffered the injury on Sunday when the Bengals tight end Thaddeus Moss cut-blocked from underneath. The play ignited the debate about whether the play by Moss was illegal. Daboll reiterated that the play was within the rules of the league.
If Thibodeaux does indeed miss opening day, he could be available for the Giants in Week 2 — the home opener against Carolina, or in Week 3 when the Giants host the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.
