The New York Giants received quite the scare last night when defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux went down with an apparent knee injury, but after tests were conducted, Thibodeaux is A-ok.
The rookie defensive end suffered the scary injury in the second quarter of Sunday night's preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals. With Cincinnati holding onto a 7-6 lead, and with possession deep inside Giants territory with 11:16 to go in the second quarter, Thibodeaux was taken out from underneath his legs by Bengals tight end Thadeous Moss and was seen rolling on the ground in pain holding his knee.
The Giants brought the cart out to take Thibodeaux to the locker room, but he refused as he got up in his own power to leave the ball game. It appeared that the defensive end was just fine as he was joking with teammates afterward on the sideline.
Head Coach Brian Daboll confirmed that further tests would be done on Thibodeaux's knee to make sure there was no structural damage. As for the game itself, the Giants topped the Bengals 25-22. Third-string quarterback David Webb starred, tossing two touchdowns on 22 of 27 passing for 204 yards. Daniel Jones was fairly precise with the football, completing 14 of 16 passes for 116 yards, but did throw an interception.
