Bowie, MD -- The Somerset Patriots (66-41) overpowered the Bowie Baysox (53-56) by a score of 2-1 in their series opener at Prince's George Stadium on Tuesday night.

Andres Chaparro's solo home run (11) in the fourth inning proved to be the deciding blow in the game, where Austin Wells also added an RBI-single in the first to give the Patriots their initial lead.

Matt Minnick earned the win for Somerset behind three scoreless innings. He retired the first nine batters he faced, before giving up a base hit on his final pitch.

Nick Ernst also added three innings, allowing the Patriots' only run on a solo homer by Hudson Haskin in the fourth inning that cut the Patriots' lead in half.

Clayton Beeter started the game with 1.2 scoreless innings on 41 pitches, one hit and two walks.

Carson Coleman slammed the door with a four-out save, where he struck out all four batters he faced on 17 pitches (15 strikes).

The 2022 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue in Bowie on Wednesday with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch against the Bowie Baysox at Prince's George Stadium.

Yankees No. 22 prospect RHP Will Warren will get the start for Somerset opposite RHP Chayce McDermott for Bowie.
