METS 6 - PHILLIES 0

The New York Mets continue their domination of the NL East with a 6-0 shutout of the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field on Sunday. The victory moved the Mets to 75-40 on the season and 39-15 overall in the NL East.

Starter Chris Bassitt struggled with his command for most of the day, but still found a way to toss five shutout innings to earn his 10th victory of the year.

Meanwhile, the Met offense went right to work from the onset. Francisco Lindor's RBI single in the bottom of the first inning, scored Brandon Nimmo to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.

New York plated four more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by RBI base hits by Mark Canha, Luis Guillorme and James McCann. In fact on the McCann base hit that initially scored Guillorme, Jeff McNeil also came around to score after catching the Phillies not paying attention to him at third base.

Finally, in the sixth inning, Daniel Vogelbach put the exclamation point on the night with a solo homer to right to make it 6-0.

The Mets visit the Braves Monday to start a four game series.
