On Tuesday night at TD Bank Ballpark, the Subway Series is coming to Central Jersey.
The futures of the New York Yankees and Mets will play one another for the first time ever in Somerset when the Patriots play host to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
While both teams are heading in polar opposite directions this season; the Patriots are 60-35 and on their way to the postseason. The Rumble Ponies are 35-60. There is plenty to chew on, especially on the prospect front.
This week, the stars of New York take center stage in the #SubwaySeries. Next week, it's the future.

From the Patriots perspective they will feature four of the Yankees’ top 11 prospects in Anthony Volpe, Austin Wells, Everson Pereira, and Luis Medina. Volpe is having an outstanding season batting at. 253 with 15 homeruns, 49 RBI and 37 stolen bases. After struggling to start the season in Double-A, Volpe has been fantastic the past two months. Wells is riding a 14-game hitting streak, and is batting .288 with 3 home runs and 8 RBI since getting called up to Double-A Somerset two weeks ago.
Pereira is hitting .243 in nine games since getting called up, and Luis Medina is a stalwart in the Somerset rotation, pitching to a 3.38 ERA in 17 starts.
For the Rumble Ponies, the biggest headliner, Francisco Alvarez is now playing ball at Triple-A Syracuse, leaving two of the Mets top three prospects in Double-A: Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio.
Baty is having a splendid season hitting .306 with 16 home runs and 49 RBI. Mauricio has displayed tremendous power with 18 homers and 58 RBI in 83 games this season.
Of course this series could be greatly affected by what happens at the trade deadline tomorrow. The Mets and Yankees are both looking for major upgrades to their pitching staffs, and both teams have been linked to Juan Soto — who may or may not get traded by tomorrow’s deadline. The Nationals were asking for at least four or five top prospects for Soto.
