The New York Jets added veteran linebacker Kwon Alexander to the group on a one-year deal worth $1.12 million.
Alexander played under Jets head coach Robert Saleh in San Francisco in 2019 and '20. Last season, Alexander played with the New Orleans Saints.
According to reports, Alexander will have an opportunity to compete for starting job at either strongside or weakside linebacker spots this summer. New York has flirted with Alexander as recently as May, and had been in need of linebacker help all offseason.
The 27-year old linebacker has 370 career tackles in three stops: Tampa Bay, San Francisco and New Orleans. His best season came in 2016 with the Buccaneers, where he recorded 145 tackles, three sacks and an interception in 16 games. While with the 49ers, Alexander played in eight game in 2019, recording 34 tackles and a half sack. He was traded to New Orleans in the midst of the 2020 season after recording 30 tackles in five games with San Fran that year.
His 2020 season was cut short due to an Achilles Tendon tear. However he recovered nicely last year in New Orleans, recording 30 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
