On a hot night in Somerset, the Patriots brought the lightning and thunder at TD Bank Ballpark, coming back to stun the Redding Fightin’ Phils 6-3 on Saturday night.

Somerset fell behind 3-0 in the top of the seventh when catcher Logan O’Hoppe, a top three prospect in the Phillies farm system, launched a three-run bomb to left to put the Fightin Phils on top.

The Patriots quickly responded. A solo shot by Mickey Gasper to right set the stage for some serious late inning magic in the bottom of the eighth.

Two batters later, Max Burt lined a single up the middle to keep Somerset’s chances in the inning alive. Finally, Anthony Volpe crushed a pitch over the left-center field wall, tying the game at three.

After Reading went quietly in the top of the ninth, the Patriots put the game away when Jesus Bastidas launched a pitched over the left field wall for a three-run homer sending TD Bank Ballpark into a frenzy.

Matt Minnick got the victory in relief having pitched the scoreless top of the ninth. Sean Boyle, Saturday night’s starter was excellent, tossing six shutout innings.
