Portland, Maine – The Somerset Patriots (7-7, 51-32) defeated the Portland Sea Dogs (11-3, 41-42) by a score of 5-1 on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field.

Portland got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning on an Izzy Wilson sacrifice fly, bringing Elih Marrero home and giving the Sea Dogs a 1-0 lead.

Somerset responded with a run on a Mickey Gasper RBI double in the top of the second, plating Jeisson Rosario and tying the ballgame at one.

Gasper then came home on an Austin Wells walk in the seventh, giving Somerset the lead.

Brandon Lockridge scored on a Gasper walk in the eighth, followed by a Chad Bell sacrifice fly to score Rosario, extending the Patriots lead to 4-1. Gasper finished the game 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI.

Jesus Bastidas padded Somerset’s lead with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth, bringing home Elijah Dunham.

Will Warren (5-2) earned the win, allowing a run on three hits over seven innings of work, striking out five. Brett Kennedy (2-5) took the loss, allowing two runs over six innings.
