Official Somerset Patriots Press Release:

Bridgewater, NJ – The New York Yankees have announced that outfielder Everson Pereira has been promoted to the Double-A Somerset Patriots. Pereira is currently ranked as New York’s No. 10 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

Assigned to High-A Hudson Valley in April, Pereira has developed into a consistent hitter at the plate with a .297/.381/.622 slash line with nine home runs and a team-high 43 RBI. The 21-year-old also ranked first on the Renegades in hits (55) and runs scored (55).

Pereira was signed to a minor league contract by the Yankees in July of 2017 and later moved up through the minor league system, seeing an eventual break-out year in 2021.

Across rookie ball, Low-A Tampa and High-A Hudson Valley, the Venezuela-native slashed a combined .303/.398/.686 with 20 home runs and 57 RBI. For his successful season, Pereira would be named an MiLB.com Yankees Organizational All-Star in 2021.

Most recently, Pereira had his hottest stretch of the season with a seven-game hitting streak between July 4 to July 12 in which he batted .355 with two homers and 11 RBI.

He follows fellow Yankees prospect Austin Wells (No. 4) as another top-10 prospect addition to the Patriots. Somerset now holds three top-10 Yankees prospects in Anthony Volpe (No. 1), Wells and Pereira. The trio spent time as teammates in both Tampa and Hudson Valley last season.
