Bridgewater, NJ – The Bowie Baysox (7-4, 34-46) defeated the Somerset Patriots (5-6, 49-31) by a final score of 3–2 before a crowd of 6,164 at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday night. 

Colton Cowser got the scoring started immediately in the top of the first with an RBI double that plated Connor Norby and later came home on a Joseph Ortiz ground out to give Bowie a 2-0 lead.  

Somerset then cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the sixth on an Elijah Dunham ground out that allowed Chad Bell to score and made it a 2-1 game. 

Two innings later, Max Burt (5) crushed a homer over the left field wall to tie the game at 2-2. Burt finished the night 2-for-3 with an RBI.  

The Baysox regained the lead in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Joseph Ortiz that plated Norby for the 3-2 final.  

Justin Armbruester (1-0) allowed two earned runs and whiffed six batters across five innings to pick up the win. Derek Craft (1-4) took the loss after he allowed the go-ahead run to score in the top of the ninth. Tyler Burch (1) recorded the save with a scoreless ninth inning. 

Mitch Spence struck out six batters and allowed two earned runs through six innings in a no decision. 

The 2022 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday, July 10 with a 5:05 pm game against the Baysox at TD Bank Ballpark.

Michael began his career as a news and sportswriter with the Jersey Journal of Hudson County.
