Official Somerset Patriots Press Release: Reading, PA - The Somerset Patriots (1-2, 45-27) defeated the Reading Fightin Phils (2-1, 31-41) by a score of 6-2 in a late inning comeback on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Tied at 2-2 in the ninth, Anthony Volpe stepped up to the plate with one out and the bases loaded and lined a two-run base hit up the middle for the winning runs.

The Fightins kicked off the scoring in the second inning on a Jack Conley groundout, bringing home Aldrem Corredor. Wendell Rijo then scored on a wild pitch later in the inning to give Reading a 2-0 lead.

Chad Bell (8) crushed a solo home run in the fifth inning to put Somerset on the board, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Jeisson Rosario knotted the ballgame at two in the eighth inning on an RBI single, bringing home Volpe.

Also in the ninth, a bases-loaded walk by Blake Perkins brought home Max Burt, before Volpe scored on a wild pitch, giving Somerset the 6-2 victory.

Randy Vasquez allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings of work, striking out seven in his start for Somerset. Steven Jennings (2-2) earned the win for a perfect eighth inning of work. Brian Marconi (3-4) took the loss, allowing four runs on three hits in 0.2 innings.
