As per typical of the Yankees of late, they fell behind early, rallied late, and found a way to win another baseball game. This time the victim was the Oakland A’s. The result was the same: Yankees win! Yankees win 9-5.

The Yanks trailed Oakland 5-3 before rallying for six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. D.J. LeMahieu got the momentum moving with a one-out walk. Aaron Judge later reached base on catcher’s interference. After Anthony Rizzo was hit by a pitch, Giancarlo Stanton also reached base on catcher’s interference, driving in LeMahieu to cut the deficit to 5-4.

Josh Donaldson flipped the script with a two-run double, scoring both Judge and Rizzo to give the Yankees a 6-5 lead. Two batters later, Jose Trevino lined a two-run double to give the Yankees an 8-5 lead. Marwin Gonzalez capped the scoring off with a RBI single, scoring Trevino to make it 9-5.

Albert Abreu got the victory in relief, tossing 2.1 scoreless out of the bullpen. Jordan Montgomery, who got the start, was charged with five runs over 6.2 innings of work.
