Official Somerset Patriots Press Release:

Bridgewater, NJ – In a must-win game, the Somerset Patriots (43-25) defeated the Hartford Yard Goats (43-25) by a final score of 2–1 before a season-high crowd of 8,069 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday night.

Elijah Dunham plated the first run of the evening with an RBI single in the bottom of the second that brought home Anthony Volpe. Dunham batted 1-for-2 on the night with two walks and an RBI. He has collected a hit in his last six games and is 10-for-21 this series.

Jesus Bastidas (8) extended the lead to 2-0 the next inning with a no-doubt solo homer to left field.

After Brenton Doyle knocked in Aaron Schunk in the top of the eighth for the first Hartford run of the game, Dunham robbed Kyle Datres of a base hit with a diving grab to end the inning and prevent the game from being tied.

Will Warren (3-2) registered 5.1 innings shutout innings and fanned seven batters for the win. His seven strikeouts were the most in a Patriots uniform this season. Nick Bush (5-5) allowed two earned runs through 4.2 frames for the loss. Carson Coleman (5) notched the final six outs and punched out the final batter for the save.

The winner of tomorrow’s matinee game will take the first half Northeast Division title and clinch a postseason berth.

The 2022 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home with a 1:05 pm game against the Yard Goats on Sunday afternoon at TD Bank Ballpark.
