YARDGOATS 9 - PATRIOTS 5

Official Somerset Patriots Press release:

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Hartford Yard Goats (42-23) defeated the Somerset Patriots (41-24) by the score of 9-5 in extra innings at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening.

A Tyler Hill broken bat RBI single in the tenth inning broke the tie before a Daniel Montano (4) three-run blast put the game out of reach.

Somerset got the scoring started in the second on a leadoff home run by Brandon Lockridge (5) and an RBI triple by Michael Beltre.

Hartford cut the lead in half in the third on an RBI single by Aaron Schunk.

Lockridge added a run with a sacrifice fly in the third for a 3-1 advantage.

The Yard Goats took the lead with a four-run sixth inning. A bases loaded hit by pitch, a Hunter Stovall RBI single and a two-run single by Montano made it a 5-3 ballgame.

Beltre’s RBI fielder’s choice in the sixth made it a one-run game.

Mickey Gasper tied up the game in the eighth with an RBI double off the right center field wall.

Will Gaddis (3-0) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Carson Coleman (0-1) allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits in 1.2 innings pitched for the loss.

With the win, the Yard Goats move into sole possession of first place in the Northeast Division with four games left in the half.

The 2022 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home with a 7:05 pm game against the Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies) on Thursday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.
