MLB history was once again been made this past weekend when the Pittsburgh Pirates faced off against the San Francisco Giants. One player stole the show which led to the Pirates narrowly escaping what would have been a three-game sweep by the Giants.

Pirates player Jack Suwinski is responsible for the stunning victory during Sunday’s game as he becomes the first MLB rookie to have a three-homer game that included a walk-off home run according to reports. On top of MLB history, Suwinski also made Pirates history as the first Pirates player with multiple walk-off home runs in a single month since 1947. What a record to set by the 23-year-old in his first year of professional play.

This was definitely the play the team needed as they faced crushing losses by the Giants throughout the series. The winning home run belonging to Suwinski also meant a broken streak for Giants pitcher Tyler Rogers, who allowed his first home run of the year to the rookie batter. Jack was met by his team as he rounded the bases in celebration of his accomplishment. However, with plenty of games left in the season, we may see more of Jack or even possibly other rookies as the Pirates added a top prospect named Oneil Cruz to their lineup. Cruz is coming back after playing with the Pirates affiliate team The Indianapolis Indians and is currently 22nd in the MLB’s top 100 Prospects.

This season of baseball has certainly been a major one when it comes to records broken as well as scores settled between teams. With plenty more action-packed moments to come be sure to keep up with us at Fox Sports New Jersey for all sports-related content.
