Hustle is the latest Happy Madison production starring iconic actor Adam Sandler, however, instead of a comedy, the film takes a much more realistic and serious approach to drama within the sports Industry.
Winning over fans and critics alike, is this a new wave of well-performing films for Adam Sandler?
Back in 2019 Uncut Gems was released and quickly gained notoriety for being a much more serious film compared to what we’re used to seeing from Adam Sandler, earning above-average reviews from both fans and critics now Hustle is pulling similar reactions showcasing a side of Sandler we’re not used to seeing.
Hustle involves well-known NBA stars such as Lebron James as a co-producer as well as Juancho Hernangómez and Anthony Edwards as actors. This adds a layer of authenticity to the film which adds to the heart and connection we see throughout the film.
The overall plot revolves around what one person is willing to overcome to reach their goal. For our cast of characters, it centers around the NBA and the drama within the sports industry as Adam Sandler plays a scout trying to bring attention to a potential star and earn his spot back within the industry. However, there are many hurdles for the pair to overcome.
What makes this film stand out from others is that it was produced by Happy Madison Productions, this is one of the few non-comedy films that the production company has ever made and yet it has been well received so far sitting at around 92% on sites like Rotten Tomatoes. Making Hustle is one of Sandler’s most popular films. He is set to be a part of more comedic films this year like he has always done though with hopes this won’t be the last time, we see the actor take on more intense dramas.
Overall, what did you think of this sports drama? More importantly, is this the side of Adam Sandler that fans are craving to see, or will these films only become a once-in-a-while hit from the actor?
