Official Somerset Patriots Press Release: Bridgewater, NJ – The Akron RubberDucks (32-25) defeated the Somerset Patriots (35-21) in ten innings by a final score of 7–1 before 5,380 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon. 

With runners in scoring position in the top of the second, Max Burt prevented a run from scoring after he cut down Daniel Schneemann at home on a ground out.  

Chad Bell (7) then drove a solo home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the inning to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead. 

George Valera (9) tied the game up the next inning with a solo homer of his own.  

Akron broke the tie in the top of the tenth after Julian Escobedo came home on a hit by pitch before Schneemann walked in Valera. Jonathan Engelmann (4) hit a grand slam to give the RubberDucks the 7-1 final.

Jerson Ramirez (4-1) threw two scoreless innings and recorded two strikeouts for the win. Matt Minnick (2-2) allowed six runs (five earned) in the tenth for the loss. 

Randy Vasquez gave up an earned run and struck out a season-high eight batters across 5.2 frames in a no decision.   

The 2022 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road on Tuesday, June 14 with a 6:35 pm game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays) at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
