Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (33-19) defeated the Akron RubberDucks (30-23) by a final score of 2–1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday night.  

Akron struck first when Julian Escobedo singled home Chris Roller in the top of the second.

Somerset took the lead in the bottom of the sixth after Chad Bell and Max Burt scored on back-to-back groundouts by Elijah Dunham and Josh Breaux to give the Patriots a 2-1 advantage. Burt went 2-for-3 with a run scored on the night. 

Will Warren (1-1) impressed in his home debut with two strikeouts and a run allowed through six innings for the win. Steven Jennings retired the final three batters of the night for the save (2).  

Joey Cantillo (2-3) gave up two runs in 5.1 innings pitched to suffer the loss.  

The 2022 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Thursday, June 9 with a 6:35 pm game against the RubberDucks at TD Bank Ballpark.

He started his career in Somerset in 2018 initially as a news fill-in at WCTC 1450 AM, and soon moved up to higher responsibilities in the ensuing years, assuming News & Sports Director title in 2021Prior to his time with Fox Sports New Jersey, Michael was play-by-play voice for New Jersey Jackals baseball, and as well as play-by-play and color for the College of Staten Island basketball (men and women), softball and baseball. Michael began his career as a news and sportswriter with the Jersey Journal of Hudson County.
