Portland, Maine – The Somerset Patriots (29-15) defeated the Portland Sea Dogs (22-23) by the score of 12-4 at Hadlock Field on Sunday afternoon.

Back-to-back home runs in the first inning by Elijah Dunham (7) and Jeisson Rosario (3) put Somerset up 4-0.

Portland answered with two home runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning by Nick Sogard (2) and Pedro Castellanos (7) to make it a 4-3 ballgame.

Two more home runs by Brandon Lockridge (3) and Andres Chaparro (7) in the second put the Patriots up 8-3.

The Sea Dogs got a run back on a Christian Koss single in the third inning. 

Josh Breaux (9) hit Somerset’s fifth home run of the game in the top of the sixth for a 9-4 advantage.

Rosario added two more on a double in the ninth to finish with his second straight three RBI game. Max Burt added a sacrifice fly in the inning for the 12-4 final.

Mitch Spence (2-2) struck out seven and allowed four runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings pitched for the win. Jay Groome (2-2) suffered the loss after he allowed eight runs on six hits in two innings pitched.
