The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is gearing up to enter its second round. With more on the line now than in the previous round, what teams will shine and what teams will fall behind as they try to earn their spot in the semifinals.

Round one of MSI ended on Sunday, May 15th with six of the eleven teams moving onto the second round. Now for the next week, they will be fighting off in multiple best of one matches. After all the games are over only four of the six will move onto the final elimination bracket. There were certainly some very tough matches in round one, however, three teams were able to dominate, not losing a single match in their respective groups.

To recap round one began with eleven teams split into three groups. Those groups played either six or eight games. Group one was controlled by Korean team T1 who went 6-0. Group 2 is where Royal Never Give Up beat out the competition even after some controversy occurred during MSI where the Chinese-based team was forced to replay matches after technical issues revolving around the different ping between teams. However, despite having to replay matches they had already won, Royal Never Give Up ended with a perfect 6-0 record.

Group three is where the only remaining North American Team in MSI was placed, however, they had a tough time going against one of the best European teams in the league that being G2-Esports, who went 8-0. However, despite this Evil Geniuses still has moved on to round two. With a lot of action to becoming it will be a wonder if the NA team will be able to keep up their luck and move onto the final elimination bracket.

They along with the other teams will all be fighting for one of those four spots available to the four top teams after a total of ten games are played. The action is set to begin on Friday May 20th at 4 am and will end on Tuesday, May 24th. The first game is going to be huge as it’s T1 vs G2 Esports. Both teams are undefeated, but only one will stay that way. Stay tuned for more updates on all your favorite Esports content right here on Fox Sports New Jersey.
