Bridgewater, NJ – Fueled by an eighth inning rally, the Somerset Patriots (16-8) came from behind again to defeat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (11-13) by a final score of 5–3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday Night.  

Trailing by a run in the eighth, Blake Perkins hit an RBI triple to tie up the game before Jesus Bastidas belted a two-run double for the lead.

Orelvis Martinez batted in the first run of the night, scoring John Aiello from second on an RBI single in the top of the third.  

Martinez struck again in the top of the sixth, hitting a solo home run (8) to center field. New Hampshire added to their lead in the same inning as Spencer Horwitz crossed home on a wild pitch to make it 3-0. 

The Patriots answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth with Derek Dietrich slamming a two-run home run (5) that cleared both walls in left field. Dietrich has now hit home runs in back-to-back games.  

Kyle Zurak (2-0) recorded the win after he held the Fisher Cats scoreless in the final two innings and struck out four batters. 

Gabriel Ponce (0-1) took the loss as he was responsible for the go-ahead in the bottom of the eighth.  

The 2022 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Friday, May 6 with a 6:35 pm game against the Fisher Cats at TD Bank Ballpark.
