Somerset Patriots Press Release: 

Bridgewater, NJ – Down 5-0 early in the game, the Somerset Patriots (15-7) rallied to defeat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (10-12) by a final score of 8–7 in Tuesday afternoon’s contest at TD Bank Ballpark. 

Orelvis Martinez got the Fisher Cats on the board early, hitting a three-run home run (7) to left field in the top of the first. Zac Cook then added two more runs in the next inning on a two-run home run (5).  

Somerset returned the favor in the bottom of the second, as Michael Beltre blasted a grand slam (2) over the right field fence, bringing home Brandon Lockridge, Jeisson Rosario, and Chad Bell. The Patriots have now hit three grand slams as a team, the most in the Eastern league.  

In the fourth, Somerset pulled ahead, as Mickey Gasper found the left field gap for a two-run double and was followed by a Jesus Batidas RBI double. Anthony Volpe’s sacrifice fly increased the lead to 8-5.  

Sebastian Espino made it a one-run game with a two-run shot (3) in the ninth. Rosario delivered the game winning play, making a sliding catch in left field and throwing out Steward Berroa at second for a double play in the bottom of the ninth to end the game.  

Barrett Loseke (4-0) earned the win, notching three strikeouts in three scoreless innings. Nick Ernst recorded the six-out save (1), striking out one batter in the final two innings.

Joey Murray (1-1) suffered the loss after he allowed eight runs in 3.1 innings.  

The 2022 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Wednesday, May 4 with a 6:35 p.m. game against the Fisher Cats at TD Bank Ballpark.
