METS 10 - DIAMONDBACKS 3

On the day the New York Mets unveiled a statue dedicated to Tom Seaver, the Mets pounded the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-3 in the club's home opener to the 2022 season.

It turned out to be a huge day for Starling Marte and Francisco Lindor who combined for five hits, three home runs and six RBI.

For Lindor, he cracked his first two home runs of the year, a two-run shot in the fifth inning and a solo shot in the eighth to power New York to a 10-1 lead. It's been a complete 180 for Lindor from where he was a year ago, when he was struggling to bat over .200 and was getting jeers. Today, he was hearing cheers.

Marte whose home run preceded Lindor's blast in the eighth inning, was 3-for-5 on the day with three runs scored and three RBI.

Even Robinson Cano got into the action with a solo shot in the fourth inning.

On the hill for the Mets, Chris Bassit was again solid, tossing six superb innings, giving up only a run on two hits, with two walks and six strikeouts. Bassit is now 2-0 with a sparking ERA of 0.75.
