The beat goes on for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Baseball team.

Rutgers downed Penn by a count of 8-4, Wednesday afternoon to improve to 27-6 on the season.  Penn had come into the game with a Top-40 RPI rating and the best record in the IVY League.

Rutgers had other plans.

As they have done quiet often throughout their winning streak, the Scarlet Knights scored early and often. RBI singles by Chris Brito and Jordan Sweeney got the party started, staking RU to an early 2-0 lead. Fast forward to the bottom of the third inning with Rutgers lead 3-0, Brito was at it again with another RBI single to push RU to a 4-0 lead. Richie Schiekofer followed with a RBI triple to make it 5-0; Josh Kurdoa-Grauer capped off the four-run inning with a RBI single of his own to push the Scarlet Knights to a 6-0 advantage.

Five players finished with multi-hit games for Rutgers including Brito (2-for-4, 2 RBI), Sweeney (2-for-4, 3 RBI), Schiekofer (2-for-4, three runs scored, RBI), Kurdoa-Grauer (2-for-3, RBI), and Nick Cimillo (2-for-5, run scored).

Kyle Muller got the start, allowing three runs on three hits over 4-1/3 innings of work. He got a no decision. The victory went to Nate McLain who pitched 1-1/3 innings of spotless relief.

With the victory, Rutgers now turns it attention back to the BIG Ten with a weekend series against Indiana.
