Bridgewater, NJ – The Erie SeaWolves (3-2) defeated the Somerset Patriots (3-2) by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday night at TD Bank Ballpark.
Daniel Cabrera opened up the scoring with a fielder’s choice to score Eric De La Rosa in the top of the first.
Gage Workman later grounded into another fielder’s choice in the top of the third to score De La Rosa again.
Quincy Nieporte’s solo homer (1) in the top of the fourth gave Erie their third and final run.
Somerset’s bullpen recorded 14 strikeouts during the game. Carlos Espinal pitched 2.2 scoreless innings and struck out seven of the eight hitters he faced. Nick Ernst threw an additional 2.1 scoreless innings and struck out three batters.
Andres Chapparo went 2-for-4 on the night with a single and a double.
Mitch Spence (0-1) suffered the loss after he allowed three runs on four hits and four strikeouts in four innings pitched.
