Due to the inclement weather in the region over the next 24 to 36 hours, the New York Yankees announced early Wednesday morning that Thursday’s season opener against Boston has been postponed until Friday at 1:05 p.m.

Gerriet Cole will get the ball against Nathan Eovaldi at the Stadium on Friday. Meanwhile there is no word on whether the Mets opener against Washington will get washed out. The game is scheduled for a 7:05 first pitch, Thursday night.

The Mets and Nationals, scheduled to play some 200 miles to the southwest, don't have the same luxury of a built-in off day. The good news: rain is forecast to taper off by early evening Thursday.
