South Carolina Women's Basketball (35-2) earned the program's second ever National Title on Sunday night in defeating powerhouse UConn by a score of 64-49 in a game that wasn't even that close. The victory capped off a remarkable season where the Gamecocks were head and shoulder above the rest of the competition all year.

The Gamecocks built a 22-8 lead on the Huskies after the first quarter and never looked back. Destanni Henderson led South Carolina with 26 points, while Aliyah Boston, the National Player of the Year contributed her 30th double-double of the season with 11 points and 16 boards.

According to ESPN: "The Gamecocks finished the tournament allowing 45.5 points per game, the second-lowest mark by a national champion against its tournament opponents, trailing only UConn in 2010.

After going 11-0 in his previous national championship appearances, UConn coach Geno Auriemma was handed his first loss in a title game." UConn hasn't won a National Title since 2016, which is the longest drought without a title since the program won its first title in 1995.
