UConn Huskies: The Huskies finished with a record of 29-5 this season. They finished number one in the Big East and went on to win the Big East tournament.
UConn lost in the Final Four semifinal last year to Arizona. With the team a little more experienced they are looking to advance to the championship game as they face last year’s champions Stanford.
UConn won their last matchup against NC State 91-87 in double overtime. Paige Bueckers led the team in scoring with 27 points.
Olivia Nelson-Ododa is the team’s leading rebounder and assist leader. She averages 7.5 rebounds per game and dishes out 3.6 assists per game. She also helps out with the scoring with 9.4 per game. Christyn Williams is the Huskies leading scorer this season averaging 14.7 points per game and is great on defense with 1.5 steals per game.
UConn scores almost 75 points per game but their opponent Stanford only gives up 57 per game. Good news for UConn fans the Huskies are 28-4 when they put up more than 57 points per game. This season the Huskies are averaging 18 assists per game as a team and 13.8 turnovers.
Their three point shooting is led by Azzi Fudd, she averages 2.5 three pointers made on 43 percent from three.
Stanford Cardinal: The defending national champions had themselves another great season. Finishing up 32-3, they went undefeated in conference play and winning the Pac-12 regular season and tournament.
In their last game they took down the Texas Longhorns 59-50. The leading scorer for the game was Lexie Hull who had 20 points.
This Stanford team is stacked, Cameron Brink is the leading scorer and rebounder who averages 13.4 points and 8 rebounds per game. Haley Jones does a little bit of everything too, she averages 12.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Hull is averaging 12.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game. This team gets after it on the boards and everyone can score.
Stanford scores around 74 points per game and they are 32-2 when they score over 55 points. Their Achilles heel will be their free throw shooting. They only shoot at 68.9 percent which was tenth best in the Pac-12. Jones led the team in free throw shooting at 3.2 free throws per game and shot 82 percent from the strike.
